Idea Foundry has bridged the significant gap between idea generation and fundable start-ups by providing the necessary support infrastructure. We support entrepreneurs and inventors as they develop their business ideas to the stage where they can secure formal external funding and revenues - and create new jobs for the region.
We bridge the gap by providing entrepreneurs with:
- Skills and knowledge - experienced mentors, a customized process and tools to help develop their business model.
- Funding - financial support to pay the bills while they concentrate on building their start-up and access to capital to take them to the next level.
- Relationships - a network of technical, commercial and financial resources to assist them now and in the future.
Idea Foundry is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) funded by local foundations and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was initially founded in 2002 to support commercialization of research from Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, and local entrepreneurs. Idea Foundry measures its success in job creation and uses funds raised through liquidity events to reinvest in more companies.
Idea Foundry has invested in 40 technology businesses since its inception, helping to drive the regional economy. |
